Start with the host material and how the insert is attached. Then identify the thread, controlled part drawing and installation interface before comparing quotations.
Wire thread inserts
A formed wire coil provides the internal thread in a prepared receiving thread.
Enquiry inputs: Internal thread and tolerance; installed length; host alloy; receiving-thread and tool reference; tang or tang-free construction.
Selection boundary: Do not select the receiving hole from the mating screw diameter. Confirm the complete insert and installation system.
Solid-body thread inserts for metal
A solid insert body has an internal thread and its own external fixing interface.
Enquiry inputs: Internal thread; outside form; body length; host alloy; receiving interface; selected fixing and installation method.
Selection boundary: Mechanical fixing depends on the selected design. Wire-coil tools and receiving threads are not automatically compatible.
After-moulding inserts for plastics
The insert is installed after the plastic part has been moulded.
Enquiry inputs: Internal thread; outside geometry; length; polymer grade and filler; boss and hole drawing; selected thermal, ultrasonic, self-tapping, press-in or expansion route.
Selection boundary: These installation routes require separate selection. Do not reuse a hole or processing setting across routes without approval.
In-moulding inserts for plastics
The insert is positioned in the mould before the plastic component is formed.
Enquiry inputs: Internal thread; outside geometry; insert length; resin; mould location and retention; end closure and protection of the thread.
Selection boundary: Specify the moulding interface and assembly drawing. This is a separate route from after-moulding insertion.
Self-clinching nuts
A nut is secured in a compatible metal sheet by the selected clinching geometry.
Enquiry inputs: Internal thread; nut profile; sheet grade, hardness and thickness; hole drawing; edge clearance; access and installation reference.
Selection boundary: Confirm compatibility with the actual sheet and tooling. Blind rivet nuts and weld nuts have separate installation routes.
Self-clinching studs
A stud secured in sheet metal provides an external threaded projection.
Enquiry inputs: External thread and length; head form; sheet grade, hardness and thickness; hole and edge clearance; installation access.
Selection boundary: A welded stud or an ordinary threaded rod is a different fixing construction. Thread dimensions alone do not establish equivalence.
Self-clinching standoffs
A clinched spacing component defines a stand-off distance at the sheet interface.
Enquiry inputs: Stand-off length; internal thread or through-hole form; body and end clearance; sheet grade, hardness and thickness; hole and installation reference.
Selection boundary: Confirm the required spacing and fixing interface. Loose spacers and washers do not supply the same sheet attachment.
A filled-in brief with confirmation placeholders
Example only: this shows how to organise the existing six enquiry topics. It is not a released part specification, installation instruction, certification or load guarantee. Replace each placeholder with controlled project information.
| Existing enquiry topic | Example information |
|---|---|
| Reference | Self-clinching nut for a removable cover on a sheet-metal enclosure; part drawing [reference and revision to confirm]. This is the nut route, not a rivet nut or weld nut. |
| Part | Internal thread diameter, pitch and tolerance [to confirm]; nut profile and projection [to confirm]; exact part material and coating [to confirm]. |
| Thread | Mating screw thread and usable engagement [to confirm]; receiving hole dimensions and tolerances must follow the selected nut and controlled panel drawing [to confirm]. |
| Assembly | Panel material, hardness, thickness, hole position and edge clearance [to confirm]; press/tool access and approved installation reference [to confirm]. |
| Acceptance | Required installed condition, inspection method, lot traceability and any project-specific retention tests [to confirm]. No installation force, torque or load value is inferred here. |
| Commercial | Quantity by drawing revision [to confirm]; documents, packing, destination and requested delivery date [to confirm]. Supply scope, timing and any exceptions are confirmed for the quotation. |

Keep these existing routes distinct
Use the existing category when the selected construction is a rivet nut, welded component, coupling nut, pin or loose spacer. This hub does not rename those products or create duplicate detail pages.

Primary technical sources and their limits
Official product references identify constructions and selection inputs. They establish no FastenerBridge stock, brand authorisation, certification or performance. No third-party sizes, installation settings or test values are adopted.
- Böllhoff HELICOIL (B01) — Wire-coil identity and selected installation variants; no transferred dimensions/performance
- Böllhoff KOBSERT (B02) — Solid-body metal insert identity; selected mechanical fixing not a universal mechanism
- Böllhoff AMTEC (B03) — After-moulding plastic insert mechanism distinctions only
- Böllhoff IMTEC (B04) — In-moulding insert identity only
- PEM self-clinching (P01) — Attachment technology and sheet-metal interface distinction
- PEM nuts (P02) — Self-clinching nut identity; rivet and weld routes remain distinct
- PEM studs (P03) — Self-clinching externally threaded stud identity
- PEM standoffs (P04) — Self-clinching spacing component identity
Size range, material availability, MOQ, production timing and inspection scope require confirmation for the exact order. The constructions listed here do not establish current stock or approved application performance.
Complete each selected construction brief
Specify the fastener's own material and finish separately from the metal host or plastic polymer/filler. Thread designation and fit, length datums, controlled tolerances and receiving-interface dimensions must follow the selected part and host drawings.
For each variant, give the exact product reference or drawing number/revision, quantity and units, defined supplied components or pack/strip presentation, required inspection documents, packing, destination and requested date. List missing geometry, documents and requested alternatives separately. Stock, MOQ and production timing remain to be confirmed.
Use the standard/reference readout to distinguish a formal standard, maker series and controlled drawing, and the drawing checklist for non-standard features. Record intended use and the actual mating assembly; the existing application guides provide project context only where relevant, not approval for these constructions.
The example form link fills only the product name. Copy the six example rows into the existing Other requirements field; replace placeholders and attach the approved drawing. No dimensions, performance or approval are filled automatically.
