Socket & Internal-Drive Screws

Socket and internal-drive screw enquiries covering cap, button and countersunk heads. Specify the exact head, drive, thread, length and quantity.

Product and application brief

Socket and other internal-drive screw enquiries should define the head construction separately from the recess used to turn the screw. Cylindrical socket cap, button and countersunk forms are distinct order items, not interchangeable heads with a common diameter.

Cap, button and countersunk heads

Identify the required head geometry and bearing arrangement. Include head height, outside diameter or countersunk angle and mating clearance. ISO 4762 is a reference for hexagon socket head cap screws, not a universal reference for every socket screw.

Internal drive and installation access

Specify hex socket, hexalobular or the selected internal drive explicitly. Provide the recess or drive reference and tool-access constraints where relevant; do not assume that all internal drives use the same tool.

Thread and finished fit

State the required thread and full or partial threading, with the overall length convention. Material properties and finish follow the approved specification; a dark or silver appearance does not establish a property class.

Specification checklist for quotation

Provide the required specification and quantity with units. These inputs are not a guaranteed stock range or a product approval.

DriveDrive type, nominal drive size and recess requirements
DimensionsHead geometry, length convention, thread length and any plain shank
ThreadSystem, diameter, pitch and tolerance; mating-hole or nut reference
Material / finishRequired designation, properties, coating and finished fit

Common purchasing questions

Does ISO 4762 cover button and countersunk socket screws?

The cited ISO reference describes hexagon socket head cap screws. State the correct reference for the actual head form instead of applying that designation to every socket screw.

Does black appearance mean a particular strength class?

No. Specify the required material and mechanical properties separately from the surface finish. Appearance does not prove either.

Prepare your order brief

Attach the complete product reference or a controlled drawing with revision. List quantities and units for each size, material and finish; include the destination, packing and document requirements. Mark missing or unresolved items for review. Supply scope and any exceptions are confirmed for the actual quotation.
