Product and application brief
Push-on and self-locking retaining forms grip a shaft or bore without a pre-machined retaining groove. Select the actual construction, not the name alone. The reference image shows only a generic external, inward-prong ring with a flat rim; it is not a grooved circlip, threaded nut or fastener-locking washer.
Product forms and reference names
| Choice or field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| External toothed forms | Inward-facing spring prongs engage a shaft. Rotor Clip TX has a curved outer rim; TY has a flat rim. DTX is a separate metric reference. Keep the selected geometry and units explicit. |
| Internal toothed forms | TI and DTI are maker examples with outward-facing prongs for a housing or bore. They are not external rings turned around. |
| Shaft friction forms | SHF and DSF are separate maker friction-ring references, not identical to the pictured toothed disc. Check their drawing and installation access independently. |
| Radial grip form | Rotor Clip RG is a separate radially installed soft-shaft construction. Do not assume every groove-free ring accepts the same receiving hardness or installs axially. |
| Naming and normative boundary | Maker names identify examples, not FastenerBridge stock codes or brand affiliation. No universal DIN/ISO/ASME identity or compliance is established for this whole family; obtain the exact selected specification and edition where applicable. |
Prong direction and rim profile
First record shaft or bore use, contact direction and exact rim/prong geometry. Flat and curved rims are separate product choices. Prong count, inclination and section must come from the selected drawing, not this AI illustration.
Receiving surface replaces the groove-selection question
For a groove-free part, identify the receiving diameter and tolerance, material, hardness, surface condition and entry edge. These are enquiry inputs, not universal design values or approval of a selected fit. Record the retained component and installed axial position separately.
Installation is construction-specific
The maker distinguishes axial push-on toothed forms, friction-ring tooling and radial grip installation. The family name does not establish tool-free assembly. Request the selected part's orientation, access, seating criteria and approved installation method; this page supplies no process force or tool-compatibility guarantee.
Removal and replacement are separate decisions
Interference retention can make removal difficult and may deform the part or affect the receiving surface. Establish service access, inspection and replacement requirements with the selected supplier and assembly owner. Do not assume repeated reuse, vibration resistance or a generic pull-off/thrust rating.
Specification fields
| Choice or field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Identity | Shaft/external or bore/internal; toothed, friction or radial grip construction; selected maker series/part or controlled drawing/revision; applicable standard and edition only if verified. |
| Receiving geometry | Shaft or bore diameter, units and tolerance; entry-edge geometry, surface condition, material and hardness from the controlled assembly specification. |
| Ring geometry | Free-state envelope, rim profile, axial thickness, prong/contact detail and installed position; distinguish ring dimensions from the receiving component. |
| Assembly and service | Retained-part face and clearance, installation direction/access, seating acceptance, removal access and replacement/inspection requirements. |
| Qualification | Required retention direction and service conditions; product-specific evidence and assembly approval needed. No inferred load, temperature, reuse or tool rating. |
| Material and finish | Exact material/condition and finish, inspection/document requirements; colour does not verify grade or corrosion performance. |
| Order controls | Quantity by item, drawing revision, sample review, packing, destination and unresolved inputs; production scope and delivery confirmed in quotation. |
Common product questions
Is this the same as a toothed lock washer?
No. A toothed lock washer belongs to a bolted-joint locking arrangement. Here prongs or a friction construction retain against a shaft or bore. Similar outline alone does not establish identical function or interchangeability.
Can an internal ring replace an external ring of the same nominal size?
No. Contact direction, receiving surface and part geometry differ. Select the actual internal or external reference and its controlled mating requirements.
Are all push-on rings installed without tools and reusable?
No such blanket guarantee is made. Installation, removal and replacement depend on the selected construction and approved assembly process.
