Product and application brief
A P-clamp is a strip formed around a cable, hose or tube, ending in overlapping mounting tabs. It supports the routed item rather than acting as a hose-fitting sealing clamp. Lined and plain metal versions need distinct dimensional descriptions.
Product forms and reference names
| Product form / field | Reference and distinguishing details |
|---|---|
| Rubber-lined P-clips | A metal band with an inner liner. Jubilee describes EPDM-lined P-clips and cites DIN 3016 for its range. Check the chosen product rather than applying that claim to every P-clamp. |
| Plain metal P-clamps | Unlined strip loops specified by drawing or selected catalog reference; do not assume lined and unlined parts share the same gripping diameter. |
| Metric catalog example | Jubilee JPC016SS is a 16 mm nominal stainless P-clip reference. The cited listing specifies a 12 mm band, 0.7 mm thickness and M6 fastening. This is an identification example, not our stock code. |
| Drawing-based P-clamps | Define the loop, tab spacing, hole position, liner and mounting orientation; a custom geometry needs its own dimensional record. |
Reading the size correctly
State the gripping diameter and whether it describes the finished lined loop. The mounting-hole diameter is a separate dimension. A label such as 16 mm does not describe the band width or bolt thread.
Liner and metal grade
Specify the metal grade and liner material separately. EPDM is a liner designation, not a stainless-steel grade. Bare-metal and lined versions may suit different routing interfaces; environmental suitability requires the selected material specification.
Mounting tabs and hole pattern
Include round or elongated holes, hole size, tab alignment and any offset. Photographs can identify the general shape, but a dimensioned drawing resolves the mounting interface.
Specification fields
| Product form / field | Reference and distinguishing details |
|---|---|
| Loop | Finished gripping diameter and tolerance, with units; lined or bare condition. |
| Band | Metal width, thickness and material grade. |
| Liner | Material, thickness, coverage and required profile, if applicable. |
| Mounting | Hole size/type, tab spacing, offset and orientation. |
| Reference | Selected standard/reference or drawing revision; distinguish maker codes from standards. |
| Quantity | Number of clips and units; mounting fasteners listed separately if needed. |
Common product questions
Are P-clamps the same as hose clamps?
No. A P-clamp supports a routed cable, tube or hose through its mounting tabs; a hose clamp closes around a hose fitting.
Is JPC016SS a universal standard?
No. It is a Jubilee catalog code for a particular product. Other makers may use different codes and dimensions.
Does stainless steel identify the liner?
No. The metal grade and liner material must be specified independently.
