ASTM F1554 Anchor Bolt Enquiries

Prepare an anchor-rod enquiry with the specified grade, controlled geometry, thread, coating extent and matching hardware.

What to send for quotation

ASTM F1554 is an anchor-bolt reference, not a complete drawing. To quote an order, we still need the rod shape, dimensions, grade, finish, accessories and evidence requirements. Send a controlled drawing or a line-by-line parts list.

Which products belong in this enquiry?

The reference addresses steel anchor bolts and rods used to connect structural supports to concrete foundations, including straight and bent forms. It is not the specification for mechanical expansion anchors. Keep an F1554 anchor-rod request separate from a wedge, sleeve or drop-in anchor enquiry.

What do Grades 36, 55 and 105 identify?

These are F1554 grade designations tied to minimum yield strength in ksi. They do not define the shape, length or coating of the finished rod. Name the grade in the order brief and leave grade selection to the approved project design.

Is Grade 55 automatically weldable?

Do not assume so. Where weldability is required, explicitly state the relevant supplementary requirement and supporting documents in the enquiry. Proposed welding belongs to a reviewed fabrication procedure; a commercial description alone is not an approval.

How should bent rods be dimensioned?

Send the approved drawing with its number and revision. Distinguish overall length, straight leg, hook or bend, threaded length, diameter and any tolerance. Identify the measuring convention and units. A photograph of an L or J rod does not resolve these dimensions.

What else changes the quotation?

List the mating nuts, washers, plates and templates separately, including quantities per rod. Define coating type and coated extent. Specify required identification, inspection documents and packing. Availability and the final inspection scope are confirmed for the actual order, not assumed from this guide.
