Product and application brief
This page covers metal bands formed around a component and secured by a selected buckle, clip or purpose-designed strap lock. It does not cover textile cargo straps, machine-table hold-down bars or pressure-vessel tank restraint systems. A circular band is not enough to identify the locking mechanism or an approved connection.
Product forms and reference names
| Choice or field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Separate band and buckle | BAND-IT identifies Ear-Lokt style buckles for banding, including single- or double-wrap arrangements. Select the particular band and buckle together; a buckle name does not make all widths, materials or tools interchangeable. |
| Band with clip closure | BAND-IT separately identifies its Stainless Steel Clip for single or double wrapping. Keep the clip reference and band section explicit rather than assuming it is the same closure as every buckle. |
| Proprietary strap-lock reference | Oetiker WingGuard270 has a winged band-locking mechanism and a named assembly system. It is a distinct manufacturer reference, not a FastenerBridge model, stocked part or universal substitute for band-and-buckle assemblies. |
Band, closure and wrap are separate choices
Identify whether the enquiry is for loose band with separate buckles, cut lengths, or a selected formed strap assembly. State single or double wrap only where the selected closure instructions support it. Double wrapping is not a generic promise of twice the strength, and a visible overlap does not prove the approved wrap path.
Define the receiving contour and contact surface
Provide the component contour, assembled outside size and tolerances, band position and space for the buckle or housing. Record required edge condition, protective layer and permitted contact with a hose, sleeve, cable bundle or other component. A smooth band appearance does not demonstrate damage-free assembly or a qualified fluid seal.
Match the locking process, not just band width
Ask for the selected closure drawing, tensioning and cutting procedure, tail termination, access envelope and inspection criteria. BAND-IT cautions that tools do not universally fit every band size. Oetiker names an electromechanical assembly system for WingGuard270; that is a maker-specific distinction, not compatibility with a generic banding tool.
Keep reference identities separate from supply claims
No universal DIN, ISO or EN identity for all strap clamps is established here. Use the selected part specification and revision for geometry, material, closure and process acceptance. Manufacturer series names describe original constructions only. Safety-critical use, holding force, sealing, service temperature, removal/reuse, certification and actual FastenerBridge supply require separate controlled evidence.
Specification fields
| Choice or field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Assembly identity | Band-and-buckle, clip or selected proprietary strap-lock form; controlled drawing/reference, revision and units |
| Band geometry | Width, thickness, cut length or formed size, edge condition and permitted surface finish from selected specification |
| Closure | Buckle/clip/housing reference, band acceptance window, lock geometry and tail termination |
| Wrap arrangement | Selected single/double-wrap path and assembly sequence; no strength multiplication assumed |
| Receiving components | Contour and assembled size/tolerance, component material, clamp location and contact/protection requirements |
| Material package | Separate band and closure designations, coatings and documentation; catalogue examples do not prove actual supplied material |
| Tool and process | Selected tool/reference, tensioning/cutting/locking instructions, access and process controls; no universal tool compatibility |
| Inspection and service | Installed acceptance criteria and requested service conditions or qualification; no generic load, seal, temperature or reuse guarantee |
| Order controls | Quantity, drawing/specification pack, packing, destination and requested documents; actual scope and timing require quotation confirmation |
Common product questions
Is a strap clamp the same as a crimp ring?
No. The structures covered here secure a band with a selected lock or buckle. Earless crimp rings use their own ring construction and swaging specification.
Does a double wrap guarantee twice the holding force?
No. Wrap arrangement is a selected construction detail, not a universal performance multiplier.
Can any banding tool fit the same nominal width?
No compatibility is assumed. Match band section, closure and complete selected tool instructions.
Does WingGuard270 mean you supply Oetiker parts?
No. It is an attributed original construction reference, not a FastenerBridge stock code, brand affiliation or qualification claim.
What should accompany an enquiry?
Provide band and closure identities, receiving contour, selected wrap and process, installed acceptance and order requirements; a photograph alone is insufficient.
