Product and application brief
This page covers earless clamping rings that are reduced around a receiving hose or component assembly. They are not ear clamps with a projecting pinch bridge, groove-retaining circlips, electrical terminal ferrules or wire-rope swage sleeves. Identify the complete ring and receiving connection before treating a similar circular part as a substitute.
Product forms and reference names
| Choice or field | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Cross-welded ring reference | Oetiker identifies stainless Multi Crimp Rings250 as cross-welded. Record the selected joint construction and part drawing; the maker's series number is not a FastenerBridge model or stock code. |
| Spirally-welded ring reference | Oetiker separately lists stainless Multi Crimp Rings150 as spirally welded. The joint path is a construction distinction, not permission to substitute it for a transverse weld at the same nominal diameter. |
| Puzzle-lock ring reference | Oetiker lists an aluminium150 puzzle-lock design separately. A mechanically joined band is not assumed to be a welded ring; exact lock geometry and installation requirements must follow the selected reference. |
Earless ring, not an ear clamp
A formed ear is a local closing feature of an ear clamp. The ring forms identified here do not use that projecting bridge as their closure. Specify the selected crimp-ring construction and assembly method rather than ordering a generic pinch clamp from outside diameter alone.
Joint form and band section need separate identification
Provide a controlled drawing of the joint, band width and thickness, edge requirements and pre-assembly ring condition. Distinguish a cross-welded, spirally-welded or puzzle-lock reference without claiming that their materials or performance are interchangeable. A generic reference image does not verify seam geometry, weld quality or an actual supplied part.
Specify the receiving assembly and crimp condition
Send hose/component and mating fitting drawings, assembled outside-diameter condition, permitted clamp position and tolerances. Identify which size is the pre-assembly ring diameter and which is the approved installed condition. Do not use hose inside diameter or an unloaded nominal ring size as a complete connection specification.
The selected swaging process determines acceptance
Ask for the required tool and die reference, access envelope, process-control method and documented installed inspection from the selected product instructions. This page does not supply jaw count, force, crimp diameter or universal tool compatibility. Sealing, pressure, temperature, removal/reuse and qualification depend on the complete ring, receiving components and accepted assembly process.
Specification fields

|---|---|
| Product and joint identity | Earless clamping-ring form, selected maker/reference or controlled drawing, joint type, revision and units; no blanket DIN/ISO or brand equivalence |
| Band section | Width, thickness, edge condition and joint geometry with tolerances from selected specification |
| Pre-assembly size | Ring diameter datum and measurement condition, roundness requirements and receiving clearance from controlled drawing |
| Receiving connection | Assembled component outside diameter/tolerance, hose or boot material/reinforcement, fitting geometry and ring position |
| Installed condition | Required final geometry, inspection dimensions and permitted deformation defined by the approved assembly specification |
| Material and surface | Required designation, coating/surface condition, joint acceptance and documents; manufacturer reference materials are not supply evidence |
| Tool and process | Selected tool/die reference and process instructions, access and control method; no universal closing force or tool fit promised |
| Qualification | Requested service/media requirements and qualified connection inspection/testing; no generic leak-tightness, pressure, temperature or reuse rating |
| Order controls | Quantity, specification/drawing package, packing, destination and documents; actual supply and timing require quotation confirmation |
Common product questions
Is a crimp ring just another name for an ear clamp?
Not for the forms covered here. Ear clamps have a projecting formed closing ear; these earless ring constructions need their selected ring and swaging specification.
Can I choose it from hose inside diameter?
No. Identify the receiving assembled outside diameter, ring size datum, position and required installed condition.
Are welded and puzzle-lock rings equivalent?
No equivalence is assumed. Compare joint, band section, material, dimensions and qualified assembly requirements against controlled references.
Does a generic ring image prove a weld or installed seal?
No. It is an appearance reference only, not seam-quality inspection, actual supply or connection-test evidence.
Can any crimping tool be used?
No compatibility is stated. Use the selected product's tool/die and qualified process documentation; electrical or wire-rope tools are not assumed suitable.
