Product and application brief
Turnbuckles are specified by their body, end fittings, thread and adjustment requirements. The complete arrangement must suit the intended tensioning or connection application.
Identify whether the application involves tensioning, securing or a lifting-related requirement. State the exact product specification and documentation instead of inferring suitability from the threaded body.
Specification checklist for quotation
The table defines the information to send, not a guaranteed stock range or a substitute for an approved technical specification.
| Requirement | What to specify |
|---|---|
| End fittings | Eye, jaw, hook or other specified combination |
| Adjustment | Open / closed length and required take-up |
| Thread | Thread size, system and fitting arrangement |
| Service | Intended use and approved load requirement |
| Material / finish | Specified construction, coating and environment |
| Verification | Required identification, certification and order quantity |
Selection and compatibility
Use a turnbuckle enquiry when adjustment of the connection length or tension is required. Mating shackles and rope connections should be listed separately.
A turnbuckle described as heavy duty is not automatically a certified lifting component. Required ratings and permitted use must be established for the selected complete product.
Prepare the order brief
Send a controlled drawing or complete product reference, plus quantities by size. Identify the inspection reports, packaging and shipping requirements needed for your order. If a requirement is not settled, mark it as needing confirmation rather than assuming a substitute.
Read the rigging hardware enquiry checklist before submitting your parts list.
What dimensions are needed besides thread size?
Include end fitting type and opening dimensions, minimum / maximum assembly length and take-up. Attach the connection drawing where fitting clearance or orientation matters.
