Insulation Fixings

Identify the insulation board, support disc, substrate and selected nail, screw or integral support construction as a complete fixing interface.

Product and application brief

Insulation fixings hold a specified insulation layer using a disc or plate and a selected base-material interface. Driven-pin disc anchors, integral plastic supports and disc-and-screw combinations are different constructions. Similar plate appearance does not establish equivalent installation or system qualification.

Construction choices

Choice or fieldWhat to identify
Disc sleeve with driven pinA selected sleeve and disc are used with their specified nail or pin. Identify both components and their supplied condition.
Integral insulation supportA molded disc and supporting shank can form a separate support construction without the same two-piece pin arrangement.
Disc and screw combinationA retaining disc is paired with a specified screw and host interface. It is not automatically interchangeable with a masonry disc anchor.

Insulation and substrate are separate inputs

Specify insulation type, thickness, compressive behaviour and surface condition together with the exact base material. Identify adhesive, old render and other non-bearing layers in the stack. A disc must be reviewed for its insulation interface as well as its substrate fixing.

Disc, shank and fixing element

Record disc geometry, shank length and retention construction, pin or screw identity and any accessories. The total visible length is not a universal anchorage-depth definition. Selected product and system documents control preparation and setting requirements.

ETICS versus other insulation support

An external thermal insulation composite system has system-specific component and project requirements. A support for another insulation application does not inherit that system's evaluation. Original-maker examples illustrate this distinction; their assessment, thermal or fire claims do not qualify a generic enquiry part.

No image-based performance assumptions

A polymer colour, metal pin or broad plate cannot establish thermal bridging, fire performance, wind resistance, pull-through or substrate retention. Request exact part and system evidence when those characteristics are required. No universal fixing spacing, quantity per area, load, temperature, torque or tool compatibility is supplied.

Specification fields

Choice or fieldWhat to identify
Application identityExact fixing construction and any named insulation-system requirements; controlled drawings/revisions.
Insulation stackBoard type/thickness/compressive requirements, surface and non-bearing layers.
Base and retentionExact substrate, disc/shank geometry, pin or screw and accessory references.
Evidence and orderProject-specific performance/evaluation requirements, materials, quantity, destination and inspection documents.

Common product questions

Can any large washer replace an insulation disc?

Not without reviewing the insulation contact geometry, fixing construction and system requirements.

Does a plastic pin prove thermal-bridge-free performance?

No. Thermal claims need exact product or system documentation, not an appearance assumption.

Does this page specify fixing positions or spacing?

No. The responsible project design and selected system documentation control the fixing layout.
