Rivet & Rivet Nut Specification Checklist

Prepare a rivet quotation with fastening type, joint thickness, grip range, hole geometry, material, internal thread where relevant and installation requirements.

What to send for quotation

Quote the part and the joint together. Keep the actual joint measurements, the selected product's permitted grip range and its installation requirements as separate fields; this checklist does not prescribe a fastening design or load rating.

1. Separate the fastening forms

Identify blind rivet, solid rivet or internally threaded rivet nut. Send the exact product reference or controlled drawing. If structural performance is required, state the approved product and criteria rather than treating a generic family name as sufficient.

2. Define joint thickness and hole geometry

Give the approved material stack or panel thickness, units, hole shape, finished dimensions and tolerances. Keep the selected grip range beside the actual thickness for review, not beside an assumed measurement from the product photo.

3. Specify the supplied part

Record body diameter, head, length and material. For blind rivets identify the mandrel requirement; for rivet nuts identify internal thread, body profile and end form. For solid rivets provide the drawing-defined shank and head details.

4. Include installation and acceptance inputs

Name the selected tool or approved process, access constraints and any required installation acceptance checks. Tool suitability and process settings require product-specific confirmation; do not transfer another supplier's installation values or test results.

5. Complete the purchasing package

List quantity by reference, coating, inspection documents, lot labels, packing, destination and required approval points. Flag missing thickness, hole or tool information before asking suppliers to price an assumed substitute.
