Metric property classes and ASTM grades belong to different specifications. The same-looking fastener can have different mechanical, dimensional and inspection requirements.
Structural bolt terminology
ASTM F3125 includes structural bolt grades such as A325 and A490. Quote the complete specification, grade, type and required revision, with matching nut and washer requirements.
Confirm the complete order
Include finish and required tests. Do not replace a specified structural assembly with a generic high-strength bolt solely because its nominal strength appears similar.
RFQ checklist
- Exact product standard and revision, or controlled drawing.
- Diameter, length, head/body form and thread.
- Material, grade, finish and inspection documents.
- Quantity, packing and delivery destination.
