Product and application brief
Hex head self-drilling screws combine a drill point, screw thread and hex drive. The point and thread must match the specified material stack and connection.
Send the sheet and supporting-member details. Total screw length alone does not establish drill capacity or the required engagement in the supporting material.
Specification checklist for quotation
The table defines the information to send, not a guaranteed stock range or a substitute for an approved technical specification.
| Requirement | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Screw geometry | Diameter, length and length measurement convention |
| Head / drive | Hex dimensions and any flange or washer requirement |
| Drill point | Required drill capacity for the supporting material |
| Thread | Thread form and engagement requirements |
| Material / coating | Metal designation and environmental requirements |
| Order | Quantity, packaging unit and delivery country |
Selection and compatibility
Use roofing screw enquiries when a sealing washer and roof-system requirements are central. Specify stainless or bi-metal construction separately where required.
Distinguish self-drilling screws from self-tapping screws. A screw with no drill point may require a prepared hole; specify the exact fastener rather than relying on the word tapping.
Prepare the order brief
Send a controlled drawing or complete product reference, plus quantities by size. Identify the inspection reports, packaging and shipping requirements needed for your order. If a requirement is not settled, mark it as needing confirmation rather than assuming a substitute.
Read the self-drilling screws enquiry checklist before submitting your parts list.
Is screw length the same as drilling capacity?
No. Specify the sheet stack, support thickness and material, then confirm the selected point's documented capacity. Length must also accommodate the required connection geometry.
