Furniture Connector Bolts

Furniture joint connector bolts: identify head, shoulder and machine-thread interfaces for a selected mating nut or connector cap.

Product and application brief

Furniture connector bolts are the male machine-threaded part of a furniture joint. The selected head and shoulder must be considered together with the mating threaded component. This page covers the bolt choice; the complete axial male-and-female binding-post joint remains on the binding barrel nuts page.

Construction choices

Choice or fieldWhat to identify
Shouldered connector boltA broad head and enlarged smooth shoulder before the machine-threaded end. Confirm the shoulder and selected receiver geometry together.
Unshouldered variantKeep variants within this family page; select the actual head, thread extent and mating component from the drawing.

Select the mating interface first

Possible receiver families include a connector cap, cross dowel or insert nut, subject to the selected matched drawing. Matching a nominal thread alone does not establish joint compatibility. A complete axial binding-post pair is addressed separately.

Head seating, shoulder and access

Provide head diameter and profile, drive recess, bearing face, shoulder diameter and length, threaded length, host thickness, access and clearances. Do not assume a shoulder fits a cap barrel or hole merely because both are furniture parts.

Not a wood-thread connector screw

This family uses a mating internal machine thread. Wood-thread connector screws and Confirmat screws engage a different host interface. A furniture bolt is not automatically interchangeable with a square-drive washer-head bolt or an ordinary socket screw.

Common product questions

Is this a second page for a binding-post set?

No. This page selects the male furniture bolt and its receiver interface. Complete axial binding-post pairs remain on their existing page.

Are all furniture connector bolts compatible with all cross dowels?

No. Confirm the selected threads, engagement, shoulder, host geometry and access against the matched assembly drawing.

Does a socket recess specify a universal tool size?

No. State the selected recess and access requirement; no universal driver size or torque is claimed.
