Shelf Supports and Pins

Compare cabinet shelf support pins and pegs by insertion interface, bearing surface, shelf material and buyer-approved assembly requirements.

Support the shelf; identify the host interface

A cabinet shelf support presents a bearing surface beneath a shelf and locates in, or attaches to, a cabinet side. Its insertion pin and supporting surface serve different functions from an industrial locating dowel. Identify both sides of the interface rather than ordering by pin diameter alone.

Compare construction choices

Selection fieldWhat to identify
Push-in pegInsertion pin, shoulder, bearing projection and cabinet-hole geometry.
Peg with separate sleeveDefine the sleeve and peg as matched parts; identify the host bore and insertion interface separately.
Threaded or attached supportState the selected thread or attachment construction, receiving material and drawing. A smooth peg is not a screw-in substitute.
Shelf-contact surfaceFlat, shaped or padded contact as specified. Glass contact requires the selected protective interface; a bare metal peg is not an automatic equivalent.

Cabinet and shelf inputs

Send cabinet and shelf materials, thicknesses, edge details, hole dimensions, support locations, bearing projection and any sleeve or protective pad. Identify the required removable, retained or other selected construction explicitly. A plain support does not by itself establish lift-out protection.

Load and retention are not inferred from appearance

The responsible designer must define acceptance for the complete shelf and cabinet assembly, including the shelf, supports, substrate and support layout. This page does not prescribe support count, spacing, a shelf load or a pull-out rating. Manufacturer ratings for one catalogue item do not apply to a generic replacement.

Manufacturer references identify construction and selection differences only. Brand names and system numbers are not generic standards, interchangeability, FastenerBridge affiliation or supply evidence. No catalogue dimensions, loads or installation prescriptions are transferred here.

Common selection questions

Is a shelf support the same as an industrial dowel pin?

No. A shelf support has a shelf-bearing interface and cabinet attachment requirements. A locating pin does not establish these functions.

Does matching the pin diameter confirm replacement fit?

No. Also identify the host hole, shoulder, projection, bearing surface, shelf material and any pad, sleeve or retention feature.

Is there a universal shelf load for these pegs?

No. The full assembly and selected product require buyer-approved acceptance. The generic illustration and this page do not establish a load rating.
